Military Medical Corps Pay Calculator

The purpose of this calculator is to
  • estimate active duty pay until retirement eligibility based on specialty, rank, and other factors
  • estimate the value of a military retirement, not counting health or other benefits
  • compare lifetime earnings of a milmed career vs departure immediately after ADSO fulfillment
  • attempt to determine a rough "break even" point, after which it makes financial sense to stay in until retirement

Why? Because the official calculators the Army, Navy, and Air Force provide are line-oriented, milmed-ignorant (or at least -agnostic), focused on fuzzy fringe benefits, and full of assumptions that simply don't apply to physicians who have a rather good gig waiting on the outside.

    In other words, they suck.

Caveat emptor: This really ought to go without saying, but this is not an official US military web site. No military service or other government entity was involved in its creation. The projections and calculations carry no warranty or guarantee of accuracy. Confirm these numbers yourself before making any decisions. I've made every effort to make this an accurate calculator, but military medical pay is complicated and so are the rules concerning service obligations.

    Notes:
  • No information is collected or retained by the server.
  • All figures are in 2013 dollars. No attempt is made to adjust for inflation.
  • Figures for past years are also based on the 2013 pay tables. They are presented as a curiosity and for completeness.
  • For the "lifer" calculations, the script will include MSP contracts to maximize active duty pay.
